
Li Xiaohong holds a Ph.D. degree in Engineering, and is an expert in mine safety technology. He is a member of the 19th and 20th Central Committee of the CPC, a member of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and a deputy to the 12th National People’s Congress. He currently serves as the Secretary of the Leading Party Group and the President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He has long been devoted to the research on water jet technology and its application in coal mine safety engineering. He has made numerous significant achievements in coalbed methane extraction and the prevention of complex coal mine gas disasters. Among them, the gas disaster prevention technology that he developed has been named a major national scientific and technological achievement transformation project and widely applied nationwide, yielding remarkable economic and social benefits. He has received several national and provincial-level awards for scientific and technological progress, as well as international academic accolades. He has authored 6 books and published over 200 papers. In 2011, he was elected as a Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
